——再為李必豐而作

沒有想到，為地下詩人李必豐發出的呼籲，在全世界激起這麽廣範的波瀾，在倉促上陣、管道不暢的狀況下，短短兩三天，簽名者就超過一百，作家、詩人、藝術家、記者占百分之七十以上。
其中，有諾貝爾文學獎和美國國家圖書獎得主，赫塔 穆勒和哈金，他們是當代文學的眩目風景——那個李必豐，做夢也沒想到，這些“天外來客”，有一天會聲援他這樣一個三次坐牢還舞文弄墨的倒霉蛋。
他更沒想到，柏林國際文學節，將開通全球網絡為他呼籲，德國時間2012年5月3日下午4點，文學節主席烏里先生，將親自主持“全球聲援詩人李必豐”的新聞發布會，一個窮途末路的灰色的“文學耗子”，轉眼就將浮現在眾多西方媒體上。
目前，牢裡的李必豐一點不知情，5月8號的開庭及宣判，機械絞索似的，一環環勒緊他的脖子，他絕望得快不行了，估計沖著墻壁正中的象征運氣的蜘蛛，禱告過無數次了，身邊的犯人或許嘲笑或許勸告過他——上帝永遠不會在共產黨牢房內顯靈。

我在自由的世界，但是我的心不自由，因為我的出逃，他們遷怒於我的朋友。並且以經濟罪名，把他打入十八層地牢。還有比這更惡毒的嗎？一個國家強暴一個平民，轉眼，提起褲子，就把生殖器換成了手槍，並堂而皇之地對世人宣稱——這個人是個賊！一個屢教不改的賊！
即便如此，一個國家強暴一個賊，就應該嗎？
十幾天前，我在柏林街頭，參加抗議敘利亞暴君阿薩德屠殺平民的作家聚會，那些敘利亞的文學同行，朗讀他們在黑暗中的記錄，街頭正在大規模殺人，他們卻躲在門窗後面，手腳哆嗦，卻沒忘記要寫，要用淌血的心，去見證殺戮。
我的淚水一個勁兒地掉，我連續兩天做噩夢，我夢見有人朝我的食物投毒。李必豐的黑影和敘利亞的黑影，交錯著襲擊我。我的一個朋友來信説——柏林的春天來了，外面陽光那麼好，你為什麼生活在恐懼中？
因為有人不自由。
因為有人因為我而不自由。
作為一個作家，一個見證者，一個時代的錄音機，怎麽能夠心安理得地享受逃離所帶來的自由？
所以我對自己説——廖亦武，你要擺脫自身的恐懼，就直接對全世界叫喊——請你們關注這個名不見經傳的人，他那麽熱愛寫作，他曾經寫了幾百萬字而沒有能力發表一個字；他的手稿和我一樣，被警察搜走；他的生命在無端地耗
費；他也曾多次逃離，卻運氣極差，多次落網——他不是名人，他不是精英，他僅僅是我書中無數小人物中的一個——請你們關注他，關注一隻螞蟻的命運。
螞蟻改變了我。
一隻螞蟻的命運最終將改變一個國家。
在突尼斯是這樣，在中國，最終也會這樣。

How Did an Ant Make a
Difference?
--- Let's Keep Fighting for Li Bifeng

I never imagined that the response to
the appeal for the underground writer Li Bifeng would make great
waves all around the world. Despite being not well-organized and
lacking good channels of communication, we have in the space of just
two or three days received over 100 signatures, over 70% of them from
writers, poets, artists and journalists.
Among them is a winner of the Nobel
Prize for Literature and the U.S. National Book Award Herta Muller,
they inhabit the firmament of modern literature. Li Bifeng could
never have dreamed that these people -- nearly outer space aliens
compared with the life he lives at home -- would come to the aid of
himself, a tough-luck case who was sent away three times to prison
only to return each time to his author's desk.
Even less could he have imagined that
the Berlin International Literary Festival set up a website for the
appeal on his behalf on the world wide web. On May 5, 2012 at 3 PM
German Time, the Chairman of the Literary Festival, Mr. Ulrich
Schreiber will hold a press conference on the "Worldwide Support
for the Poet Li Bifeng" --- a poor worn down littteratur
seemingly at the end the line has suddenly become the focus of world
media attention.
Li Bifeng, now imprisoned, knows
nothing of this. On May 8 the court will go into session and the
verdict will be read. This strangulating machinery is pulling the
ropes ever more tightly around his chest. Soon he will have no more
hope. Rather like the eternal hopes of the spiders on the walls,
forever frustrated by the daily rinsing down of those walls. He
prayed many times. The other convicts may be laughing at him, or
giving him some advice -- God will never manifest Himself inside one
of the Communist Party's prisons.
Therefore, we ask everyone to send

believes in miracles. At the same time astonish also those who threw
him into prison, those who struck him, those who are wearing him down
-- those Chinese Public Security Bureau National Security Detachment

than squishing a bug.

I am in the Free World but I am not
free in my heart because I fled and because I fled, they are venting
their anger on my friends. They want to use the club of 'economic
crimes' to through him down into the depths of hell. Is there
anything more vicious? A country rapes a citizen and in the blink
of eye, pulls down his pants and turn his penis into a pistol and
then cries out in astonishment to the world -- 'that man is a bandit!
... despite repeated warnings, he is still a bandit!"
Even so, would it be right for a
country to rape a bandit?
A week or so again, when I walked the
streets of Berlin, taking part in a gathering of writers protesting
the butchering of Syrian civilians by the Assad regime. Some Syrian
fellow writers read their accounts of their dark days, telling of the
mass slaughter on the streets, how they hid in their homes, their
hands and feet trembling. Still, they did not forget to write. With
hearts still dripping with blood, they bore witness to the slaughter.
I cried and had nightmares for several
days. I dreamed someone poisoned my food. Dark shadows of Li Bifeng
and of Syria lay down a sort of interlocking fire, launching a
surprise attack on my mind and spirits. A friend came and asked --
the spring has come to Berlin! It so sunny outside, why do you live
in such fear?
Because some are not free.
Because some are not free because of
me.
As a writer, as a witness, as the
recorder of the voices of an age,
How can I relax in peace and enjoy the
freedom I gained by running away?
Therefore I said to myself -- Liao
Yiwu, you must rid yourself of your fears and speak out directly to
the entire world -- you have to speak up for a man who is not
well-known.
He so loves to write, he wrote millions
of characters but has never been able to publish a single one. Like
me, his manuscripts were taken away by the police, his life's
energies are being wasted uselessly. He tried to escape many times
but always had bad luck, getting caught several times. He is not
famous, he does not belong to the elite, he is just like one of the
countless numbers of small characters in a novel. Please pay
attention to him, pay attention to the fate of this small ant.
That ant changed me.
The fate of an ant can change an entire
nation.
Just as it was in Tunis, so shall it be
in China one day.
